John Varvatos is an American contemporary menswear designer with Greek roots. From the mid-80’s till the late-90’s he worked for brands like Polo Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein before he started his own company in 1999. As his collection is inspired by Rock ’n‘ Roll, Varvatos credits his early obsession with music as the catalyst for his interest in fashion. He received different awards such as the Perry Ellis Award, CFDA’s 2001 & 2005 Menswear Designer of the Year and the GQ‚s Designer of the Year.
As he was known as one of the most successful menswear designer, he decided to create fragrances. Meanwhile he has been created 12 different fragrances and for me with his latest eau de toilette – Artisan Pure – he created his masterpiece. It’s a fresh mix of modern smells and features also the male note you’ve been looking for. Redolent, luxurious citrus notes bring an understated elegance to modern, sun-warmed woods. Highlighted are three distinct types of petitgrains, which use all the elements of the citrus tree: leaves, branches and tender fruit as well as the best quality of orris. With the outstanding design the bottle works as an accessory for every bathroom, so guys get ready for your next date…
„John Varvatos Artisan Pure is a crisp, woody, citrus scent inspired by the lush hills of Xalapa, Mexico and its vast coffee and citrus groves.“
– Top: Spanish lemon, valencia orange, Calabrian bergamot, petitgrain essence trio
– Middle: orange flower, coffee tree flower, jasmine, Italian orris absolute, resinoid, coriander seed, cardamom
– Base: Texas and Virginia cedarwood, Mexican primavera wood, angelica root, ambretta seed, tonka bean
How to get
In case you’ve been looking for a new frangrance I really recommend Artisan Pure, ‚cause you won’t find it in every men’s essentials even if it should be there. It’s simply good and it’s still not one of the most known brands for fragrances, so everyone of you could be a trendsetter. This is not a joke.
In collaboration with John Varvatos (but hell yeah, it smells so good).
